The wrong kind of surge

Recently, it seems like each time I check troop deaths in Iraq, the number has gone up significantly. It isn’t my imagination. Today I looked closer and found that there have been over 30 troop deaths in just the past week.

The count for December has now passed 100, and the total has come so close to 3000 that that sad milestone may be passed before New Year’s Day. Round numbers like that usually get the attention of the media, and they may provide the strongest argument against the stupid “surge” idea.
