This is one of those posts that’s really a reminder for the future me. If it helps you too, that’s great, but my motives are purely selfish.
I upgraded to Version 2.4 of ReadKit the other day and found my new feeds—the ones in the RSS News smart folder—in reverse chronological order. I could’ve sworn I had them set up the other way in 2.3, so I hunted for a way to switch the ordering around. It’s not in the or under the menu. You have to right-click on the RSS News item in the left panel and choose from the popup menu. That brings up a sheet where you can set the ordering.
I also had to change a setting to get it to sync immediately upon startup. That’s a checkbox in the Accounts preference.
You may be wondering why I have the sorting here set to A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.. This is the setting that governs when you’re looking at the feed of a particular site, including both read and unread items. I seldom do that, but when I do it’s because I’m searching for a post I want to read again. It’s more convenient then to see the articles listed in reverse chronological order.
I haven’t done much testing of this new version, but you can get the lowdown on new features from Federico. I will say the sync speed seems greatly improved.
