The number of US military deaths in Iraq nearly doubled from July to August, but is still less than a third of what it was a year ago.
We’re just about at the anniversary of the sudden drop in the casualty rate. As I recall, the beginning of September 2007 was much like the previous months; it was the second half of the month that started the relatively low casualty rate that’s continued to today.
