FTPing from Automator

In this post, I mentioned an Automator action that uploads via FTP. I didn’t have a use for it back then, but I’ve just used it to cut down the time it takes to post images to my Mechanics blog.
The action has just two parts: Get Selected Finder Items, and Upload to FTP. You supply the server, username, password, and upload directory to the Upload to FTP action when you define the workflow, so it’s an action best suited to situations when these things don’t change. Fortunately, the Mechanics blog fits the bill. I save the workflow as a Finder Plug-in, so it’s now a simple context menu selection when I need to upload a new illustration to the blog.
